The Main Event Brings Community Together

At a time when 1 in 8 people in the local Jewish community is dependent on the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and its local partner agencies for some form of financial assistance, nearly 1,300 people came together Thursday night for Federation’s 2010 Main Event, to raise funds for the most vulnerable in Miami, in Israel and around the world. Chaired this year by Gary and Niety Gerson, the event is Federation’s largest annual community gathering, and featured a keynote address by author, teacher and Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel. Longtime Miami philanthropist Isaac Olemberg was presented with the 2010 Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award.
