Financial Overview

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation raised $43.7 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 1999. This is the total income generated from all sources, including the Federation/UJA Campaign and the activities of the Federation’s Foundation of Jewish Philanthropies. According to the audited financial statement for this period, the costs required to attain this financial achievement were 9 percent.

To touch Jewish lives effectively, it is important first to build a strong Jewish community. The function of community organization and central planning services goes far beyond the raising of dollars.

Much of the work of Federation, overseen by a core of dedicated volunteer leadership, centers around the planning of community services for today and tomorrow. We develop human resources to meet the needs of our people, both here and abroad. We address issues that confront us as a people with strong and active community relations. And we remain fluid, so that we can quickly adapt to the needs of our people.

To fulfill all these directives and more, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s community organization, central services and administrative costs for our Jewish community were 6.6 percent.
